The One of a Kind Show - Dotty

The One of a Kind Show

We had the pleasure of attending the One of a Kind Show in Toronto this past week and it was an incredible experience. We had five days filled with meeting new people, seeing our clothes in action, and interacting with lots of Canadian vendors. It was a blast!

The show was incredibly successful and we were so pleased to be part of it. We enjoyed seeing all the unique products that were on display, as well as meeting all the amazing people who attended. It was great to see how everyone came together to make this show one-of-a-kind!

It was an exciting first day at the show when we showcased our new designs. We knew that they were going to be popular, but we had no idea just how much! The white eyelet tops flew out the door, and the blue wrap tops were a hit. Even the dresses were being tried on left and right.

The process of getting ready for the OOAK show is one that takes months of planning and usually comes with some surprises along the way. To get stock ready for the show, we start designing months and even years ahead. We look at current trends, past trends, and what we at dotty personally would love to live in. All of our garments are sewn right here in Toronto, close to Lawrence & DVP. All of our sewers at the factory are highly skilled, and do beautiful work. Since we need extra stock at the show, we usually order more which means the sewers are busy busy busy.

Having such a close relationship with our factory has been essential for running our business. We know the sewers by name, and they know us + our families. We work together as a team to create amazing dotty pieces that will last for years, and love seeing them in real life at the OOAK show.

If we saw you at the show, thanks for swinging by! Our highlight of the day is our customers and the stories they bring with them. For our friends who weren’t able to make the spring show this time, it’s a great opportunity to get out of the house, go for a walk and browse, grab some friends (or shop alone, we like doing that here too). There’s always an abundance of guest speakers, free samples, and great energy. Hope to see you next year!
